Pro-Russian ‘Immortal Regiment’ marginalized in Belarus

Pro-Russian "Immortal Regiment" marginalized in Belarus

For nine months of Mikhail Babich's work in Belarus, the pro-Russian ‘Immortal Regiment’ not only failed to strengthen its positions, but suffered marginalization.

On May 9, in Minsk, several hundred people took part in a march of "Immortal Regiment". In other Belarusian cities the march did not take place, and its potential participants joined the columns of the official counterpart - "Belarus Remembers". Earlier, Aliaksandr Lukashenka had spoken against holding "Immortal Regiment" actions in Belarus saying, "Why should we abandon our 'Belarus remembers' and switch to 'Immortal Regiment'?”
